The Difference Between Fireplace Blowers and Blower Kits

Although we try and make it very easy for our clients to determine exactly what they need for their fireplace, we still find that a number of folks purchase replacement blowers when in fact a full blower kit was required.

So what's the difference you ask?

A blower kit is what you'll need if you're installing a blower for the first time.  Blower kits vary with regards to what is contained in the kit, but all kits contain the blower, a power cord, and the necessary means to properly mount the blower kit.  Some kits are mounted with actual hardware, while others are universally mounted with Velcro tape and magnets. A kit may also contain a rheostat variable speed control and/or a thermostatic on/off switch that automatically turns your blower on and off at set temperatures.

Replacement blowers are exactly as they sound.  They replace existing blowers that have either gone bad or need to be upgraded.  Replacement fireplace blowers do not include a power cord and should only be purchased if you're replacing a worn out or defective blower.

  3. This style of blower is most commonly used in gas fireplace inserts, but many wood burning inserts use this style of tangential blower as well. If there's a particular model fireplace you're doing some research on, send me an email at support@fireplaceblowersonline.com and let you know exactly what type of blower your fireplace needs

  4. Fireplace blowers are designed to distribute the air from your fireplace throughout your entire home. Fan blowers can be placed anywhere including right in front of your fireplace or in the doorway of the room. When placed in front of the fire the blower will distribute the air throughout the room. When placed in a doorway, a fireplace blower will distribute the air to another room making the heat more effective. If your aim is to heat a large room or several rooms in your home, a blower is highly recommended.

  5. To spread the warmth through out the rooms, the fireplace blowers are used. One of the biggest concern in the fire place is that the amount of heat that it can generate within the room, unless the fire place blower is installed, the heat that is generated from the fireplace grates will never gets distributed to the room.

  6. What is the difference betwee nthe fk-12 and the fk-24 blower kits?

  7. The FK12 is merely a constant speed blower kit that includes the power cord and blower. Noise reduction padding, Velco strips and tape are also included with the kit.

The FK24 kit on the other hand utilizes the same blower, but is mounted on a bracket that attaches to the rear of your fireplace with two mounting studs. The FK24 kit also includes a rheostat variable speed control and thermostat. Only certain model fireplace accept the FK24 kit, so if you need a universally mountable kit, I would suggest something like the GFK4 blower kit.
